The Harvard Report

THE HARVARD REPORT  (Rev 30 Sep 2011) I’m very fired up after the Sep 24-25, 2011, 400 person, Harvard Law School Conference on the Constitutional Convention!  Here’s my report. 1. The event proved that we really can bring people together  from the far left, far right and the Tea Party and have a respectful dialogue  into whether it would be more valuable to have a constitutional convention than not. 2. Lots of interesting pros and cons were explored in a dignified, thoughtful and intel

What's We the People?

We the People (www.WeThePeople.FutureNetwork.TV) is a reality television series proposed by FutureNetwork.TV (www.FutureNetwork.TV).  The series addresses the following: The vast majority of Americans disapprove of Congress. There’s never been a constitutional convention—because there are no rules and that frightens some people. The purpose of We the People is to demonstrate and prov

Why Democracies Fail – A Quote

The following quote has been attributed to Alexander Fraser Tytler, Lord Woodhouselee, (1747 – 1813), a Scottish-born, British professor, lawyer, writer, and historian who lived during the launching of a new democracy: The United States. The quote is unverified, but it’s poignant isn’t it? “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.  From that moment

This is a BIG Deal: The Case for Amending the Constitution

Now that proposals to upgrade and strengthen our democracy are coming in, it’s time to explore HOW to implement proposals. There are three legal avenues available to we everyday Americans: We can ask the President and Congress to pass better laws—and hope they do so.  We can elect a new President and Congress—and hope they pass better laws.  Or we can take the bull by the horns and upgrade the Constitution ourselves. Understandably, many people prefer to leave the task to others—the Pr
